Canon Unit Tripod Mount Ring & Adapter E(B) Black

So I like the feel of the tripod mount, it’s really high quality and should be for $200. But having to use this pain in the bum plastic collar ring sucks. No instructions, had to muddle my way through it. After several tries I saw that the ring has three little indents that only match up one way. The tripod mount itself snapped on like a glove. But looking at the whole thing assembled I have to ask myself why the lens wasn’t designed to fit the tripod mount directly? It seems like they forgot about it and someone told them at the end to make it work. The collar looks cheap and sticks out. Could have been better.
