This product is a power inlet box that is used for connecting a generator to a home’s power system. The connector is a NEMA SS2-50P and it is capable of handling up to a 50-amp input. It must be interfaced with a power cord terminating in a NEMA SS2-50R receptacle. The cord that I have has the NEMA SS2-50R receptacle with a dustproof twist-lock ring built into the connector. The inlet box product can accept this input and the twist-lock ring interfaces into the threaded section built into the NEMA SS2-50P connector. This ring is designed to ensure that the connection is secure, does not loosen due to vibration, and is not affected by dust, dirt, or water infiltration.This power inlet box is very well made. The design of the box allows sufficient space for the wiring connections to be made without crowding. The allowable wire gauge that can be used ranges from 4 to 8 AWG which ensures that the full measure of 50 amps may be conducted, when required. The green LED built into the flip cover is unique and it ensures visibility into when power is successfully connected. The flip cover has a latch built into the cover and opening so that it is securely kept in place when closed. The holes for electrical connection utilize a threaded ring to secure the plug instead of being just a rubber plug to fill the hole. I was specifically looking for this feature.This box is very well made and very well finished. There are no sharp edges and the paint finish is perfect. Now I need to find an electrician that I can trust to install the connection to my circuit breaker box.After surviving two hurricanes last year and nearly two weeks with any power whatsoever, I have decided not to endure such a situation again.
