First the similarity between this 40’dollar unit and the 70 ‘ dollar one is almost identical. The 70$ one is a Lofter . Not available anymore last I checked which is good but it does have cool looks like and old bus from the 40-50’s or is it 60’s ? lol ?Issues with the lofter is the long brace that holds the toast . Getting a thicker piece of bread like NY Bagles in there which are tad wide sometimes binds a bit but not bad. What happens is the doing 4 slices there’s no spring support on back side of the lift rack that holds the toast . After a bit they get bent down then you have dig out your toast . Bending back up is a temporary fix . Apparently after a few times the lift racks get weak and that’s the end of that .So far no issues with the new one other then toasting evenness . Heats wires not uniform along the plates .some uneven toasting . The Lofter was worse . How hard is it make a toaster toast evenly? lol ?What I like about the Lofter was the end controls you can put the unit anywhere .This unit not so much for me it’s I have it placed to the right of the stove . I prefer it to sit along the counter wall front to back but I’d have move to the right of stove to have access to the controls which I don’t like because it’s just farther away in the sense of convenience.I seem to have the knob turned to at least 4 to get some breads to toast to the level I like sometimes it’s needs more toasting . Not tested it past that point yet . I don’t use the warming rack Guy thing I guess lolThe knob definitely needs a white dot on it .I guess we could get a paint pen or little dot sticker to put on it help see it better or any other method you might like to use .Ok that’s it for the Eliite Gourmet ( Elite hahaha that kills me lol ?) ? so three or 4 stars you pic !
